May is almost over and the city continues to evolve in the COVID-19 era. Here are a few things that occurred in Los Angeles this past week. City of Angels Boxing Empties Out City of Angels Boxing was a thriving boxing gym in the heart of the city before March 2020. It welcomed people from … Continue reading May 25, 2020: Last Week in Los Angeles

The Health Plan: 1 Year Later

April 11, 2019May 27, 2019 / JC Gonzalez / 1 Comment

It was one year ago that I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. The diagnosis marked a new point in life. I changed my diet and prioritized exercise as part of daily routine. My blood pressure went back to normal and the doctors gradually took the medication away. I lost 25 pounds, my energy levels … Continue reading The Health Plan: 1 Year Later

The New Health Plan: 6-month Progress

September 29, 2018October 29, 2018 / JC Gonzalez / Leave a comment

It was six months ago that I sat in a new doctor's office, meeting him for the first time having avoided doctors for about three years. That day, I was given bleak news that didn't surprise me but certainly freaked me out. I weighed 214 pounds (I hit 216 shortly after on a different scale) … Continue reading The New Health Plan: 6-month Progress

The New Health Plan: 3-Month Progress

July 5, 2018September 11, 2018 / JC Gonzalez / Leave a comment

March 12, 2018 was the lowest health point of my life thus far. I weighed in at 215 pounds and my blood pressure was through the roof. Medication would be necessary but hopefully not permanent. My life began anew that very day. Physical training became a daily requirement. My diet underwent a dramatic change as … Continue reading The New Health Plan: 3-Month Progress

The New Health Plan

April 23, 2018September 11, 2018 / JC Gonzalez / 3 Comments

In the previous post, I shared the outcome of my recent doctor’s visit: I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and weighed in at my heaviest ever. That evening, my wife and I discussed both the results of the visit and what would be necessary to get healthy again. Prior to my own visit to … Continue reading The New Health Plan

The Red Flag I Neglected

April 14, 2018September 8, 2018 / JC Gonzalez / 2 Comments

The wake-up call came on March 8, 2018. I had spent the better half of that week terribly congested: my head felt two sizes larger than normal, I couldn’t breathe or hear well, and was speaking with a nasal tone. By that morning, it had become too much to ignore. I contacted my doctor to … Continue reading The Red Flag I Neglected

Just out walking the dog. #thisishalloween🎃 It was time for a haircut, some pool, and Indi! Thanks @drummer_the_barber13 A few seconds of the party at Sunset and Echo Park last weekend thanks to @elclasicotattoo Took a drive with the girls through Whittier Boulevard from beginning to end a few weeks ago. We had donuts at @jaxdonuts_lahara, lunch at @mariscos_el_bigoton, and capped it with churros from @churrosdonabel. Click the link in the bio to read the full piece I wrote on the experience. The Rite Aid on Glendale boulevard just before Glendale meets Alvarado is closing, or may have already closed at this point. I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news. I go back to the Thrifty days and didn’t think it would ever go away. I don’t know for sure but if I had to take a guess, it will be unaffordable, high-end housing in a year or two. It was an 8-bit Sunday morning with the little one. Attending my first physical trade show since COVID began. Gotta say I missed it. #tradeshows #b2bmarketingexpo I am not one for pictures of myself but as I embarked on the journey to build a business of my own late last year, I knew I had to at least update some profile images. I knew I could only trust @jntdrn to do it. I thank her greatly for helping me get over the awkwardness and making it a fun day around Los Angeles. Out and about this past weekend. #explorelosangeles #touryourtown
