The days are warming up and people are tiring of safer-at-home restrictions. We all suffer from a short memory these days. If a topic goes beyond the lifespan of an Instagram viral (no pun intended) post, it’s beyond our own give-a-fuck meter.
Diseases, I’m sorry to inform, are not social media posts. They do not respect our wish to just move on to the next buzz-worthy thing. Yes, economies cannot be allowed to crumble. The day to move forward in an adjusted manner is near. But it must be done in a smart way. This does not mean everyone should flock to the mall, the beach, the park—or even the office. Patience and a slow approach will ensure we remain healthy through the transition to the new normal.
